PHOENIX, AZ — The Arizona Diamondbacks played the last game of a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. After coming off an amazing 9th inning comeback win down a 4-0 deficit. The Snakes needed to win the series finale. This win would give their exciting comeback more substance. The game fell into the hands or arm of ace Zac Gallen. Gallen has had an up-and-down season so far, being a little inconsistent in his mechanics. He would pitch 6 innings, allowing 5 hits and 5 strikeouts on 89 pitches. This performance was good enough to set him back on track. Although he didn’t get the win, it’s a good sign going forward. It indicates that the ace can still come through in the clutch.
Speaking of clutch, two guys have held this team on their backs after the Marte injury. Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo have been absolutely clutch in the biggest moments of games this year. Carroll keeps getting the big hit that starts a rally to win a game. Perdomo consistently gets on base every time he has batted in these first 16 games. These two have stabilized the Dbacks’ offense. This has kept the team in close contention in the division. It seems like everyone except the Rockies has gotten off to a fast start.
The Brewers jumped out to a 2-0 lead early. But the Diamondbacks’ defense and pitching held them to those same 2 runs for the rest of the game. The 2025 D-backs MO has been scoring late to win games and beating up teams with dominant bullpen pitching. They are in the top 5 bullpen pitching unit and are still missing Kevin Ginkle.
The game was tied 2-2. Josh Naylor hit a single to drive in the go-ahead run. The Snakes added two more assurance runs late to secure the victory.
Now they will head on the road for a series against the Miami Marlins. They will also have another stint against the Chicago Cubs.
