Ottawa University Of Arizona Takes First Loss of Season

Ottawa University of Arizona’s football team lost their first game of the season after being undefeated by winning their first eight games of the 2019 season.  This game was a hard fought, emotional game as it was OUAZ’s Senior night.

The Lyons Scotts were determined to disappoint the seniors on their special night of recognition.  The Scotts won this game with a final score of eighteen to fourteen. Sadly, emotions played a large role in this game causing undisciplined football play as OUAZ accrued fourteen penalties called against them for 124 yards while the Lyon Scotts only permitted three penalties for thirty five yards.

The Ottawa University of Arizona Spirits also fumbled the ball four times, they never lost the ball but results led to a loss of yardage. The Ottawa University team was assisted by star running back, number seven, Kristopher Ewens. At the half, Kristopher Ewens held the leading position in yardage with seventeen attempts for 169 yards and one touchdown; averaging 9.9 yards per attempt!  Kristopher Ewans completed the evening with twenty six attempts for 214 yards and a touchdown.

Even though the Ottawa University of Arizona didn’t win this game; Kristopher Ewans will never forget this event and his commendable performance. Let’s not neglect to mention number twelve Ray Singer, the leading receiver, and his valuable output with three catches for fifty-two yards. Ottawa University of Arizona did their job on defense!  This high intensity, smart defense only permitted eighteen points, 292 total yards, and even blocked a field goal towards the end of the first half providing the offense multiple opportunities to win this game. In a great effort, this defense did not force any turnovers this game.

They were accompanied by number twenty-two Marcos Garcia, who statistically gained three solo tackles, seven assisted tackles and accompanied number twenty-one with six solo tackles and three assisted tackles. Ottawa University of Arizona will hopefully glean some knowledge from this game as they move forward in the season.  Next, OUAZ will play their final game against Southwest Assemblies of God University in Texas; with a win against Texas, they will be guaranteed a spot for the playoffs.
