ASU vs. Utah Game 7 Preview

Arizona State University is coming off a thrilling shootout victory against Washington State  University. Currently ranked seventeen ASU competes against the number thirteen ranked Utah Utes playing in Utah.  The Utah Utes and Arizona State University are currently tied for first place in the Pac-12 South with two wins and one conference loss, they both have five wins and one loss overall.

This will be Utah’s first real test as Utah has not faced a ranked team all season.  On paper, Utah has been great statistically with scoring thirty four points per game while allowing only thirteen points per game which defensively is very impressive for the Pac-12.  Arizona State University is averaging approximately twenty three points per game and only allowing about fifteen points per game defensively.

On a positive note,  Utah has played the following teams this season: Brigham Young University, Northern Illinois, Idaho State, University of Southern California, Washington State University, and Oregon State which is a positive for ASU because that means this will be Utah’s first ranked opponent.  Utah lost to University of Southern California on September 20th. Arizona State University has proven over the last year that they can win in a shootout game. For example, just last week while competing against Washington State University, they won in a defensive battle against Michigan State.

Arizona State University can win close games using game winning drives like they have demonstrated three times now.  Arizona State University has gone on the road and defeated number ranked 18 Michigan State, playing in Michigan, as well as  won in California against ranked 15 California Golden Bears. Arizona State University has experience in playing against these highly ranked teams in a must win situation.  This will be a must watch football game and the winner has potential to represent the Pac-12 South in the Pac-12 championship.
